Renew + Collagen Plus Colloidal Minerals Technical Information
What does collagen do?
Collagen is the fibers of connective tissue which supports the body; it constitutes 40 per cent of the body's protein. It is associated with rheumatic and other diseases collectively called collagen or connective tissue diseases. Collagen fibers vary greatly in structure and function. Some, as in the cornea of the eye, are as transparent as water. Collagen is the cushioning material of cartilage in the joints, the matrix on which minerals are laid down to form bones, the inelastic substance of tendons which transfer muscle movements over joints, the elastic substance of skin, a part of webs and struts which hold the body together, a substance which when boiled yields glue or gelatin. Once laid down in the body, collagen is not renewed or replaced. "Old" collagen is less elastic than young collagen. It is related to stiffness of joints and leatheriness of skin with increasing age, and may be a fair index of a person's biological rather than chronological age.
What does connective tissue do?
Connective tissue serves as the supporting system of the body. Its cells produce the structural elements and matrix of fibrous, bony, and cartilaginous tissues. These not only form a variously tough framework but the matrix supplies lubricating elements of the joint fluids that permit parts to glide smoothly over each other. The predominant substance is collagen, a term formerly synonymous for connective tissue, but now used more specifically to designate connective tissue, but now used more specifically to designate connective tissue fibers. Connective tissue may be regarded as an organ that pervades the entire body and that is subject to diseases of its own or is the "mother site" of diseases which have somewhat similar manifestations as well as clinical differences.

Why do we need to supplement?
Colloidal minerals are probably the most important supplement a person can take. With our ever-increasing knowledge of nutrition, we are discovering that we are much more dependent on our minerals than we originally thought. Nearly every function in our bodies requires minerals to function properly. In fact, we are finding out that many diseases and natural deaths are the result of mineral deficiencies. Linus Pauling, the renowned two-time Nobel Prize winner, has stated, "You can trace every ailment, every sickness and every disease to a mineral deficiency."
Our bodies contain over 70 different minerals. Our bodies can function, however poorly, without vitamins, but cannot function without minerals. Though our bodies can produce several different vitamins (from its mineral source), it cannot produce minerals. Therefore, we are very dependent upon our diets to provide the minerals to help us function properly and fight off diseases. However, it has been estimated by a U.S. government agriculture agency that our farmlands have been depleted by about 85% over the last 100 years. We fertilize with nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium, to keep the crops growing, but every time we harvest the crops, the soil gets more and more depleted of its mineral content. Studies show that the mineral content of two seemingly equal pieces of produce can have a huge difference in mineral content. There is no visual way of determining the nutritional content to see which piece of produce provides better nutrition.
What is the difference between colloidal minerals and regular mineral supplements?
Normal mineral supplements contain metallic minerals. They are much larger and are in the form as you would find in the ground. They are inorganic and carry a positive charge. Colloidal minerals, on the other hand, are organic and carry a negative charge. They were once metallic minerals, but have been absorbed by plants and changed into an organic form. A plant derived mineral in less than 0.001 micron in size which is approximately 1/6000th the size of a red blood cell. There are five main reasons to take colloidal minerals instead of regular mineral supplements.
Absorbability: Most mineral supplements today contain inorganic metallic minerals. These inorganic metallic minerals are at best 12% absorbable. Colloidal Minerals are nearly 100% absorbable. This is due to two reasons. First, colloidal minerals are so small that they are readily absorbed and used by the body. Second, they carry a negative charge. This is important since our intestines, where most of our nutrients are absorbed, usually have a positive charge. Since opposites attract, colloidal minerals are naturally absorbed better.
Toxicity: Many metallic minerals can be highly toxic. For example, you or I wouldn't want to ingest a metallic form of lead, mercury, arsenic, or aluminum. These elements can be very harmful and even deadly. However, in their organic colloidal form, they are non-toxic. In fact, they are very useful to our bodies and play several key roles in helping our bodies function properly.
Bioavailability: Regular metallic minerals must be first converted by the body which diminishes their effectiveness. Colloidal minerals are already in a form that the body can use. Also, since the surface areas of colloidal minerals are so great, due to their small size, their effectiveness is tremendously increased.
Increased Vitamin Effectiveness: An amazing study was done by Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp, a well known biophysicist and professor at the Kaisserslautem University in Germany. This bio-electric test showed that the vitamin efficiency and cellular health is greatly increased with the addition of colloidal minerals.
Wide Variety of Minerals Available: The colloidal minerals sold by LMC contain approximately 77 different minerals. Most mineral supplements contain approximately 12 different minerals. Why take only 12 when our bodies need at least 60-70 different minerals? Unlike metallic minerals, the plant-derived Colloidal minerals in Renew+ are 98-100% assimilated in the human body either through direct absorption and/or permeation, a process through with the minerals penetrate between the cellular matrix. That's why the 77 Colloidal Minerals in Renew+ are the perfect delivery system for the 100% pure (and Kosher) bovine Collagen in Renew+.
