What is tendinitis?

Tendinitis refers to inflammation of tendons (tough cords of tissue that connect muscle to bone) caused by overuse, injury, or related rheumatic conditions. Tendinitis produces pain and tenderness and may restrict movement of nearby joints.

What are symptoms of tendinitis?

• Joint pain
• Joint warmth
• Joint swelling
• Joint pain on movement
• Grating feeling of tendon on movement

What can I do to relieve tendinitis?

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to treat certain types of arthritis. These drugs can help by reducing inflammation, swelling and pain in the joints, but not everyone can take them. It's important to stay as active as possible. When joints hurt, people tend not to use them and the muscles get weak. Using heat may reduce your pain and stiffness, but this is temporary. Mineral supplements are natural alternatives to medicine and beneficial for many ailments. Be sure to check with your doctor if taking other medications.
